Tournament rules

Format

Both players tee off. The team selects one drive, and both players play their next shot from within one club-length of the selected spot, no closer to the hole. Repeat until holed. The ball may be placed, not dropped, and must stay in the same condition — a drive in the rough is played from the rough, a drive in a bunker from that bunker.

On the putting green, mark the selected spot and place both balls within one inch, no closer to the hole.

Senior Tee Option (65+). Players aged 65 and older have the option to play one tee box forward (Gold to Blue tees) to maintain pace of play.

Minimum drives. Each player's drive must be used at least four times over the eighteen holes. Track it on the scorecard as you go.

Scoring & Adjusted Handicaps

One score per team per hole — the actual strokes the team took.

Team Net = Team Gross (18 holes) − Team Adjusted Handicap. Lowest net score wins the tournament.

Maximum score: 10 strokes per hole. If a team reaches ten, record a 10, pick up, and move to the next tee.

No mulligans. Strictly prohibited to preserve competitive integrity.

Handicaps & Calculations

With an official GHIN index. Your GHIN handicap index is used as submitted (capped at max 20).

Without an official index. Submit your average 18-hole score or use our built-in calculator to enter your last 3 round scores. It converts using local course differential: (Average Score − Course Rating) × 113 ÷ Slope Rating (or Average − 71 for Mesquite Golf Club).

Individual Handicap Cap. Individual handicaps are strictly capped at a maximum of 20 strokes to maintain competitive balance in a scramble format.

Team Adjusted Handicap calculation. Computed as 35% of the lower-handicap player + 15% of the higher-handicap player (rounded to the nearest whole stroke, with .5 rounding up), the USGA-recommended allowance for a two-person scramble. For example, if Player A has a 10 handicap and Player B has an 18 handicap: (10 × 0.35) + (18 × 0.15) = 3.5 + 2.7 = 6.2, so the team plays off 6.

Handicaps lock before the shotgun and do not change once play begins.

Handicaps are self-reported. Every team enters their own GHIN index or average score at registration. This is a friendly, honest-handicap competition, and results are not open to dispute based on another team's self-reported number.

Side competitions

Closest to the pin and longest drive are scored separately and have no effect on the tournament standings. Markers are provided at the designated holes.

Longest drive must come to rest in the fairway of the designated hole.

The Heckle Hole

At the designated hole a panel of self-appointed comedy observers, backed by a karaoke machine, will distract players. It is purely for entertainment and affects nothing on the scorecard.

Pace of play

Play ready golf throughout. Keep pace with the group ahead. The 10-stroke maximum per hole keeps play moving.

Carts and conduct

Carts stay on paths where posted. Outside alcohol is not permitted except what is served by the tournament (two drink tickets included).

Conduct that embarrasses the tournament is grounds for disqualification without refund.
